This small geography book contains six folding maps engraved by Benjamin Baker including the world, North America, South America, Africa, Asia and Europe. In North America, place names are mostly limited to the east coast with East and West Florida depicted. Quivira is located in the west as is a long River of the West. Alaska is still misshapen but beginning to take its proper form. The world map shows Tasmania still connected to the Australian mainland. Includes over 500 pages of unpaginated text describing important places in the world with dictionary-style descriptions. Printed by Richard Brookes for numerous London sellers including B. Law, C. Dilly, and Cadell and Davies to name a few. 12mo., hardbound in full original leather.
