Split across three volumes, this first volume covers the French, English, Dutch, Swedish, and Spanish settlements in the present-day United States, Canada, and the Arctic. The book includes four facsimiles of notable Sanson maps: Amerique Septentrionale, Le Canada, ou Nouvelle France, &c., La Floride, and Audience de Guadalajara, Nouveau Mexique, Californie, &c.. Hardbound in blue cloth with the title in a gilt scroll design on the front cover and an illustrated dust jacket. 61 pp.
