A beautifully rendered and highly detailed copper engraved plan of this important city on the Caribbean side of Panama. The map provides a terrific picture of the harbors, towns, forts and countryside. Details include soundings, shoals, rocks and the road to Panama City. Tirion's Hedendaagsche Historie was initially conceived as the Dutch edition of Thomas Salmon's Modern History. The work began in 1729, but the text was later expanded and the Hedendaagsche Historie was therefore not completed until 1803.
