This rare chart depicts the English Channel in terrific detail. Portions of England and France appear with largely blank interiors but plenty of place names along the coasts. Within the channel, criss-crossed by rhumb lines, are numerous soundings and a single compass rose. The leonine Royal Arms of England appear in England, and the French coat of arms is shown within France. There is a decorative title cartouche at bottom right that features two sea monsters and the North Star.

A clean and bright example with professional repairs to a few short separations along the centerfold at bottom. A missing strip of paper along the centerfold that measures about 1/4" in width, and extends from the center of the map to the top edge of the sheet, has been professionally replaced with the image skillfully and seamlessly replaced in facsimile.
