A nice example of Ortelius' second map of Silesia. It is based on a map by the Silesien cartographer Martin Helweg in 1561, and is beautifully engraved with large forests, mountain ranges, and a strapwork title cartouche and coat of arms. Wroclaw (Breslaw) is located near the center of the map and Krakow is at bottom right. French text on verso.
References: Van den Broecke #103.
Condition: A
A sharp impression on a clean, bright sheet bearing the horn watermark commonly found on Ortelius maps. There is light toning along the edges of the sheet and a manuscript page number below the neatline.
