Finely engraved and detailed map showing numerous place names, topography, Indian tribes and more. A note along the Arctic Circle locates the discoveries of McKenzie and Hearne in the late 18th century. In the northern part of a large Louisiana Territory is a note locating the "Villages of the Tall Indians and Manders". The Stony Mountains stretch in nearly a straight line from the Arctic Circle to Mexico, continuing to Panama. Extends to include the Sandwich Islands.

Issued folding and now flattened and backed with tissue. There is faint offsetting and light extraneous creasing adjacent to the left fold. A binding trim at top left that has been cut to just inside the border has been replaced with old paper.
