Facsimile atlas of The English Pilot The Fourth Book (originally published in 1689) from the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum series, published in 1967. This was the first sea-atlas to focus exclusively on American waters. It feature 15 double-page and 5 full-page charts. 148 pages, with bibliographical note by Coolie Verner. Elephant folio, hard boards bound in red cloth with dust jacket. Condition: Content and covers near fine. The dust jacket has a touch of soiling.

B. A Carto-Bibliographical Study of the English Pilot - The Fourth Book with Special Reference to the Charts of Virginia, by Coolie Verner, published 1960, (4.9 x 6.8"). This compact volume is a great resource for those hoping to learn more about the "first great atlas of wholly English origin to deal exclusively with American waters." Verner devotes extra attention to the maps of Virginia. It includes five black & white maps. Hardbound with gilt titles on the spine. 88 pages. Condition: Contents tight. Minor wear to the covers.
