This map is finely engraved with a keyboard-style border and depicts villages and towns, forts, roads, ports and more. County configurations are current to 1837, prior to the organization of Caddo County in the northwestern part of the state. Two early railroads are shown connecting Clinton to Port Hudson and Woodville, MS to St. Francisville (both on the Mississippi River). Jeremiah Greenleaf took over the production of David Burr's New Universal Atlas when Burr was appointed Geographer of the House of Representatives.
