This very early printed map illustrates the Eastern Hemisphere. The circumference and diameter of the earth are shown in Italian and German miles. Throughout his life, Apianus was involved in mathematical publishing, cartography and instrument making. The Cosmographia was among his most popular publications. On a full sheet of Latin text (6.4 x 8.3") with a large, decorative capital below the map.

A nice impression on a clean, bright sheet with professional repairs to some small worm tracks along the edges of the sheet, as well as one that is in an unengraved area of the map at bottom.
