A beautifully engraved decorative map of the whole of France based on the work of Jean Jolivet. This richly engraved map is filled with topographical features and numerous cities. The large strapwork cartouche contains text, and a coat of arms is displayed in the stipple engraved sea. This is the second state with increased hachuring along the coast and the appearance of a crack in the plate adjacent to the border at bottom left. French text on verso.

A nice impression on paper with the common horn coat of arms watermark found on Ortelius maps. There are some faint, old manuscript notations in the map, a couple of tiny worm holes along the centerfold, marginal soiling, and a professionally repaired centerfold separation in the bottom blank margin.
