An early example of Ortelius' map of ancient Romania and Bulgaria compiled from the works of Dionos, Stephanus, Horatius, Suidas, Flavius Vopiscus, Plinius and Strabo. The route of the Danube is noted to the Black Sea. The map is decorative with fully engraved seas and a trio of large cartouches. Latin text on verso, published in 1618 in Petrus Bertius' edition of Theatri Geographiae Veteris, which contained a number of Ortelius' maps of the ancient world. Theatri Geographiae Veteris was printed in Leyden by Isaac Elzevir and published in Amsterdam by Jodocus Hondius.
