Crisply engraved, reduced version of Mercator's handsome map of Crete with small inset maps of the islands of Corfu, Zante, Milos, Naxos, Santorini and Scarpanto at top. It is decorated with strapwork title and scale cartouches at lower right. German text on verso.

A nice impression with light, scattered foxing that is primarily confined to the blank margins. A piece of the plate appears to be broken off within the border at right.
