This map shows the southeastern coastline of Africa from C. del Gada in Tanzania to the Cape of Good Hope, with the western coast of Madagascar included. Decorated with an ornamental title cartouche featuring scroll motifs and a compass rose. The map was commissioned by Jean-Frédéric Phélypeaux, Count of Maurepas.

A crisp impression on paper with a bunch of grapes watermark, issued folding. There is light toning along the edges of the sheet, minor offsetting, and a binding trim at left has been professionally replaced with period-correct paper.
