This charming miniature woodcut map of the world shows the continents with a very large southern continent. There is very little detail, although Quito, Nova Guinea, S. Lor. (Madagascar), and Lucach R. in the southern continent are all named. This map appeared in Rosaccio's Theatro del Cielo o della Terra along with a circular world map. There were numerous editions published between 1592-1724, although new wood blocks were cut for the late editions of 1688 and 1724. On a full sheet of Italian text measuring 3.8 x 5.8".
