This map of France is divided into archbishoprics and identifies archibishoprics, bishoprics and abbeys throughout the country. A small inset shows the region surrounding Paris, with Paris labeled as Montmartre, the location of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart (Sacre-Coeur). The title cartouche is topped with a bishop's mitre and crosier. Engraved by Matheus.

This map is quite rare, appearing in Gallia Christiana, qua Series Omnium Archiepiscoporum ... ad Nostra Tempora, which was a 4-volume documentary catalogue of all the Catholic dioceses and abbeys of France from the earliest times. The Gallia Christiana was begun by brothers Scévole and Louis Sainte-Marthe, royal historiographers of France, and published by Pierre Abel and Nicolas Sainte-Marthe, son of Scévole.

There is minor toning along the centerfold and edges of the sheet, and archival repairs to a short centerfold separation in the bottom blank margin and a few small worm tracks in the top blank margin.
