A beautiful 17th century map of Italy that extends to include Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, and the Balkan coastline. The map is teeming with details including towns, villages, rivers, mountains in profile, and an erupting Mt. Etna on the eastern coast of Sicily. Adorned by a highly decorative, allegorical title cartouche in the flourishing French style.

Original outline color. The map has been trimmed to the neatline all around and backed with old paper to create new margins (a very common practice with composite atlases). There is light toning, minor staining, and a few small abrasions to the left of the centerfold at bottom.
