A scarce and decorative map of Italy produced for the Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences. The map extends from approximately Marseille to Belgrade and includes Sardinia, Corsica, Sicily and much of the Balkans. Adorned by a decorative seashell cartouche and two distance scales. Manuscript page number 13 at the top right corner of the sheet.
References: Phillips (Atlases) #3500-13.
Condition: B
The map has been trimmed close to the neatline on all sides and backed with old paper to create new margins (a process common with maps in composite atlases). There is a small abrasion along the right border and an unidentified library stamp above the distance scales. Light soiling and scattered foxing mostly in the blank margins.
