A handsome map of the Mediterranean islands, the larger map depicting Crete and three smaller maps of Corsica, the Ionian Islands, and Sardinia. Ortelius compiled the map from both classical and contemporary sources, including Strabo and Plinius. Strapwork cartouches, a ship and sea monsters ornament the map. Latin text on verso.

Condition: A

A nice impression with marginal soiling, light toning along the edges of the sheet, and an archivally repaired tear at bottom left, well away from the image. Small remnants of hinge tape on verso.
