This is a later edition of this impressive French historical atlas which served as a forerunner to the familiar Carey & Lea/Buchon atlases. The atlas consists of 36 double-page plates including chronological and genealogical tables with 20 interspersed maps. Of particular interest are the large, attractive double hemispheric world and western hemisphere maps. While there is no table of contents, the atlas appears to be complete. Elephant folio, hardbound in quarter calf with tips over pictorial paper boards. Published in Brussels by P.J. de Mat.
