This magnificent panoramic view shows the city of Havana from Regla, across Havana harbor. Morro Castle and the harbor entrance can be seen along the horizon at right. The view is based on a daguerreotype taken by G.B. Hase in 1854. Willard's engraving brings the city to life with incredible details of individual buildings and homes, ships in the harbor, and villagers going about their daily business. A small cluster of palm trees anchors the foreground at left. This view was exhibited at the 1855 Exposition Universelle des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Printed by F. Chardon for Magniol Rousselon & Badenier.

Superb impression on a bright sheet with several creases in the blank margins. There are separations along the plate mark, several inches away from the image, that have been closed on verso with archival tape.
