This large-scale coastal chart depicts the opening to Todos os Santos Bay in the state of Bahia, Brazil. It shows numerous depth soundings, bottom types, banks, lighthouses, and more. Several small islands are located, most prominently Itaparica Island. Fortifications are detailed along the coast of the city of Salvador. Surveyed by Ernest Mouchez, an innovator in the field of surveying who improved the way longitude is determined through his use of the theodolite and meridian telescope. Engraved by J. Geisendorfer and printed by Lemercier et Companie. Prix Deux Francs is noted below the neatline at right.
