A beautifully engraved decorative map of the whole of France based on the work of Jean Jolivet. This richly engraved map is filled with topographical features and numerous cities. The large strapwork cartouche contains text, and a coat of arms is displayed in the stipple engraved sea. This is the first state, prior to the appearance of a crack in the plate bottom left. French text on verso.

Condition: A

A bright sheet with a professional repairs to a tear adjacent to the centerfold that enters 1" into the image at bottom, and to two tears confined to the bottom blank margin.
