This detailed map of Andalusia is from the now lost map by Spanish royal cosmographer Jeronimo de Chaves. The map is centered on Seville and includes the Bay of Cadiz. It is finely engraved to depict the topography and features a sea battle and several monsters off Cadiz. Each corner is adorned with a cartouche or compass rose. This is the first state with French text on verso, published in 1581.
References: Van den Broecke #28.

A dark impression with light printer's ink residue, some show-through of text on verso, and a professionally repaired centerfold separation. There are a few short tears in the bottom blank margin that have also been professionally repaired.
