This untitled map was published on the back page of the September 23, 1944 issue of the New York Journal-American. It accompanies an article entitled "Plan for Peaceful Germany Must Strip Prussia of Power." The map shows a large Prussia occupying the north in blue, with the states of Southern Germany in light gray. The article asks these southern states to "free themselves from the harsh, relentless, selfish domination of Prussia, to end the alliance that has brought them nothing but serfdom and war, hardship and useless sacrifice." The front page includes a humorous illustration of a Russian bear stalking Hitler in a rowboat on the Danube River.
