This boldly engraved map of Indonesia includes the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Java, Borneo, and part of Cambodia. Place names are noted on the islands, including Bali and part of Sumbawa, but Singapore is not mentioned. The lower portion of the map features a decorative cartouche showing Neptune, the Roman equivalent of the Greek Poseidon, and a female figure with a trident who is most likely Amphitrite, wife of Neptune. From a German edition of Mallet's Description de l'Univers.
