This rare Italian map covers all of North America and the Caribbean with good topographical detail. A possible river passage to the Pacific links, by dotted line, two lakes just west of the Sierra Verde (in what is present day Utah) to the Rio S. Filippo, which flows into the Pacific at Monterey. The United States is shown occupying most of present-day British Columbia, and Mexico controls Texas and the American Southwest. Alaska is called America Russa. The delicately engraved title cartouche shows a Native American woman and a crocodile. A collaboration between Giacomo Russo, A. Rossi, and G. Galiani.
