Large attractive sea chart of the Atlantic Ocean extends from Newfoundland and Ireland south to Africa and the northern tip of South America with good detail of the coasts and the Caribbean Islands. The colonies of Florida, Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania and New England are noted, with a few cities identified along the cost, including Baston (Boston) and Manate ou Nouvelle York (Manhattan). The southern tip of Florida is very pointy. A note at top left explains that the map was first published in 1738 and used on several voyages, and that the voyagers provided feedback and corrections on the map that necessitated this updated "more perfect" edition. The map is crossed with rhumb lines and oriented with a simple compass point at center. This chart was engraved by Dheulland and produced for Le Comte de Maurepas, the Ministre de la Marine.
