This striking map of Malta, oriented with north to the bottom right, gives excellent topographical detail with a number of cities noted throughout the island. Particular attention is given to Fort St. Elmo, Valletta, and the surrounding fortifications, which are also shown in an inset at bottom left. At top right is a vignette of a Christian fleet defeating Turkish forces. Also featured are a Grand Master of the Knights of Malta with a pair of putti, and a chart of the coats of arms of the Grand Masters. A stunning and uncommon sheet.

A dark impression with full contemporary color, a minor printer's crease at top center, a few spots of soiling in the image at top left, and a faint damp stain in the bottom right corner. The edge of the sheet is folded over a bit in the left blank margin, but there is still ample room for framing. A beautiful example despite these few imperfections.
