The title of this magnificent panoramic view of the city of Bethlehem describes the view as "true" and "accurate" based on the work of monk of the Strasburg Province of the Franciscan Order, who lived in the land from 1749-52. Above the city, God floats on a cloud with one hand on a globe and the other pointing toward Infant Jesus, who emanates rays like the sun. A bird on God's lap cries "For God loved the world so." The Angel Gabriel also points toward Infant Jesus, with several other putti floating in the clouds, including two that hold a banner reading "Glory to God in the highest." A numbered key is presented on two drapes, identifying numerous locations in the view. Between the two drapes is a vignette of the Holy Family in a manger, with the three Magi making their way to the manger on camels. A superb view by Gottfried Bernhard Goez (1708-1774).
