"Your friends will want Wild Bill Hickok TREASURE MAPS when they see this one of yours," according to the copy on the envelope that enclosed this duo of pictorial treasure maps. These maps were promotional items for Kellogg's, printed by Rand McNally & Co. Wild Bill Hickok Treasure Map (34.9 x 23.6"), the larger and more decorative map, was drawn by Bob Glaubke. It features pirates, natives, cowboys, miners, Jesuits, forty-niners, and conquistadores burying treasures all over the United States. The map is surrounded by a decorative pictorial border. Wild Bill Hickok Guide to Lost Treasures (22.1 x 15.1"), the smaller black & white map, notes more than 300 towns and cities where treasure is said to be buried. It features small illustrations of riders crossing a desert landscape, a cowboy burying sacks of treasure, a pirate, a pirate ship, and a compass rose with a conquistador's head in the center. On the verso is a photograph of actor Guy Madison as Will Bill Hickock from the TV series The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickock (1951-58). The treasure research and text on both maps was provided by Tom Penfield. The original envelope is also included with the lot.
