This detailed map of the Richmond vicinity extends to Manchester on the south side of the James River. The street grid pattern of the city proper is shown and is divided into wards. Capital Square is highlighted in green overprinting with concentric circles radiating out in quarter mile increments. In the suburbs, individual properties are delineated and named. Along the James River is the Richmond & Alleghany Railroad, James River and Kanawha Canal, Tredegar Iron Works, and several quarries. A large advertisement for J. Thompson Brown & Co., real estate agents, is printed across the map. Folds into tan cloth-covered boards (4.1 x 6.7").
