A scarce view of Panama from the buccaneer and surgeon, Alexander Oliver Esquemelin (1645-1707). Esquemeling accompanied the famous Welsh privateer Sir Henry Morgan on his escapades though the Caribbean, and was a first-hand participant in the raids on cities, such as the raid on Panama in 1667. This view illustrates the land with pictorial topography and tiny illustrations of soldiers and battle as well as buildings, with pirate ships in the seas.
