This uncommon map of the Kingdom of Naples is densely engraved with cities, political boundaries, rivers, and topography. The map covers the 'boot' of southern Italy, extending north to Abruzzi and including northern Sicily. The decorative elements filling the waters make this map quite attractive. The title cartouche dominates the Gulf of Venice and features numerous coats of arms, a dedication to King Philip V of Spain, and a cornucopia, all held aloft by a large mer-man. The legend is contained within a large shell floating in the water, while a third cartouche includes a lengthy description of the region.
