This charming pictorial map of the Sonoma Wine Country was created by artist James Dowlen on behalf of the Sonoma County Winegrowers Association. This promotional map identifies each of the local wineries with grape leaves and shows the various highways and routes to access each one. Interspersed throughout the map are round vignettes showing scenic sites in the region, including Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, novelist Jack London's wolf house, and Armstrong Redwoods State National Preserve. At top are lovely views of vineyards. Dowlen, who initially specialized in pencil and ink illustrations and fantasy drawings, helped pioneer digital tools for use in print media and computerized animation. He currently operates Dowlen Artworks, located near Portland, Oregon.
