Two states of a color lithograph by G. & F. Bill depicting George Washington's estate on the Potomac River. Each has an index locating 14 buildings and sites on the property, but interestingly neither identify the slave quarters adjacent to the brick Greenhouse at top. The second view has subtle differences in the image including a smaller depiction of Washington’s tomb and the summer house.
A. Birds Eye View of Mt. Vernon, the Home of Washington (14.0 x 10.1"). Condition: Issued folding with minor foxing and an edge tear at left that extends 2" into the image and has been closed on verso with archival tape. (B+)
B. Birds Eye View of Mt. Vernon, the Home of Washington (14.4 x 10.3"). Condition: Issued folding with a 7" edge tear at left that has been closed on verso with archival tape. There is a small area of loss along the left fold and a number of small fold separations that have also been closed on verso with archival tape. (B)
