A rare bird's-eye view that was taken from Church Hill (from the east) looking toward the city center. This beautiful and detailed color lithograph shows the city shortly after Union forces had taken over the city as Union troops are depicted in the foreground and the American flag is flying at left. Behind the flag are the ruins of several buildings in the commercial district, which were set ablaze when Confederate troops were forced to leave the city. Drawn from nature by F. Dielman with lithography by Edward Sachse & Company. Published by Carl Bohn in both Washington and Richmond.
