This attractive and detailed map is centered on Belgrade and the confluence of the Danube and Sava Rivers. It presents the events at the Siege of Belgrade (1717) during the Ottoman–Venetian War (1714-18). Turkish positions are shown in red to the south of the Danube while Austrian troop positions are depicted progressing from Petrovaradin in the north to the fortified walls of Belgrade. The bloody battle that ensued is depicted in a detailed vignette at bottom. The Austrians ultimately won the war and took control of this region for the next 20 years.
