Handsome map of ancient Thrace based on Gastaldi's 1560 map of South East Europe, and on information from numerous ancient sources, specifically Herodotus, Plinius, Strabo, Appianus, Virgilius, Plutarchus, and Sidonius. Portions of the Black Sea, Sea of Marmara, and Thrakikon Pelagos, all stipple engraved, make this a very handsome map. Features three decorative, strapwork cartouches. Latin text on verso. This is the second state of the map with "Gammaides" crossed out in the list of places with uncertain locations at bottom right.
