This rare atlas by Charles Lubrecht includes 64 single-page maps 2 double-page maps of the United States and Europe. The maps and plates have been colored by hand, which is unusual for this late date as most publishers had moved to cheaper, faster, printed color. In addition to the maps, tables and diagrams, there are a number of vivid illustrations that make this a very attractive and unusual late 19th century atlas. The illustrations of note include Southern Scenes, The Postman of the Desert, The Great East River Suspension Bridge, and The Dairy Farm. 168 pages. Folio, with frontispiece, pictorial title page, contents, text, maps, and illustrations. Hardbound in brown cloth with gilt title and illustration on front cover.

The maps and plates are very good to near fine with an occasional spot of foxing or edge tear in the margins. The map of the United States has a closed 1" edge tear at bottom, the map of Europe has a 2.5" centerfold separation at bottom, and the map of Oceania has a small chip at bottom that just touches the border. Covers are worn and stained, and the edges are bumped.
