This decorative Holy Land map is based on the work of Guillaume Sanson. The main map traces the route of the Exodus and includes a plethora of Biblical and topographical details. It features a beautifully engraved title cartouche depicting the drunkenness of Noah and, at bottom right, the Ark of the Convenant. A large inset map at top left details Abraham's journey and includes a title cartouche showing the Lord's convenant with Abraham and the thwarted sacrifice of Isaac. Another inset at bottom left focuses on the encampments of the 12 Tribes, with the Tabernacle at the center. This is the first state. The map was engraved by Lattre, the cartouches by Gobin.
