This small map of the Caspian Sea gives good detail of the western coastline with numerous place names as well as depth soundings. Three inset views depict the cities of Derbent, Astrakhan, and Terky, a city along the Terek River. A lettered key at left details the variations of the compass at several locations within the Caspian Sea. A note at right gives information on the Caspian Sea, explaining that the sea never ebbs or flows and that there are likely subterranean passages between the sea and other rivers.
