This is the first facsimile edition of the journal of Charles Floyd, a quartermaster in the Lewis and Clark Expedition and the only fatality of the group. The book reproduces his handwritten pages side-by-side with new transcriptions. Editor James J. Holmberg, curator of special collections for the Filson Historical Society in Louisville, Kentucky, contributes an introduction and annotations. The volume includes 85 illustrations, 65 of them in color, and 3 maps. Part of the American Exploration and Travel Series. 120 pp. Hardbound in brown cloth with gilt titles on front cover and spine and a dust jacket.
