This striking title page was updated from the design found in Jansson's Novus Atlas, with Ferdinand III replaced by his successor, Emperor Leopold I. The appearances of the seven surrounding Electors have also been amended, and more decorative features have been added. Above the Emperor and Electors, two eagles hoist a string of six armorial shields. In between the eagles looms the Imperial Eagle, Leopold I's coat of arms, and the Eye of Providence. Across the bottom, two emblems flank a small battle scene depicting the Emperor's forces triumphing over the Ottomans. Moses Pitt's plan for a large world atlas based on Jansson's work met with financial failure, and he was only able to complete four of the planned 12 volumes, this being the title page for Volume II.
