This elegantly engraved frontispiece references the Accademia Cosmografica degli Argonauti, the world's first geographical society, founded by Coronelli in his hometown of Venice. It likely appeared in either Atlante Veneto... or Corso Geografico Universale... The engraving depicts two female allegorical figures seated on opposite sides of a column topped by two putti in exuberant celebration over a pile of symbols of military might.
