This graphic map celebrating college football was created by F.E. Cheeseman for Milwaukee-based clothing manufacturer Albert Richard. It demonstrates the growing popularity of the sport and is filled with pennants marking the location of 244 college teams with additional illustrations of players, stadiums, a cheerleader, seals, and more. A key below the map identifies each school's location, nickname, and record from the prior year (1939). Further decorated by an inset map of the "major conferences" and a compass rose consisting of conference champion pennants. Surrounding the map is a listing of All-American players over the prior 50 years. The verso contains the 1940 schedule for the major conference schools and advertisements for various Albert Richard coats.

References: cf. Hornsby (Picturing America), plate 46.

Condition: B+

A colorful example with pinholes in the corners and several chips at bottom with some minor loss to the All-American player listing (but not the map). The map was stored rolled for some time and currently does not lay flat.
