This 1837 edition of the Washington Guide by William Elliot was published by Franck Taylor. It features an untitled map of the city by G. Kramm showing the diagonal street pattern, and extends to Georgetown in the west and Alexandria to the south. The 310 pages of text contains additional illustrations including two views of the Capitol, White House, and City Hall. 12mo, rebacked in gilt-stamped cloth over original pictorial paper boards.

The folding map has a couple of minor stains, a few small ink notations at center, and a 3" binding tear at right that has been closed on verso with old tape. Text is very good with occasional manuscript notations. Covers are moderately worn and soiled.
