This is the atlas of a two-volume set published by the State of Illinois highlighting the early contact between local natives and white settlers. It includes 54 facsimiles of "maps which show the increasing knowledge of the territory, of the river courses, and the location of Indian tribes and villages." There is a nice mix of manuscript and printed maps. Two of the maps are in color. It includes a foreword by Thorne Deuel, a preface by compiler Sara Jones Tucker, and 15 pages of notes covering each of the maps. Loose sheets stored in a paper folder, as issued.
