This attractive chart shows Portobelo, the important Spanish port city on the northern coast of Panama. Numerous soundings are located, and a key at leftt identifies important locations. The chart is surrounded by a boldly engraved border. This is a rare, early Dutch edition of a map that later was popularized by Jacques Nicolas Bellin in various editions of Histoire Generale des Voyages.
