This finely engraved map illustrates ancient Gaul. The map incorporates most of France with Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and northwestern Italy. It shows the various tribes, towns, and ancient divisions of the region. It is embellished with a striking title cartouche that incorporates three distance scales. It was published in 1757 as part of the first edition.

A nice impression with contemporary outline color on a sheet with a Society of Jesuits watermarked sheet and a large, light damp stain down the center and bottom of the map. There is a centerfold separation that enters 0.5" into neatline at bottom, minor soiling, and some extraneous creasing along the centerfold.
