This miniature engraving gives a bird's-eye perspective of the Royal Site of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, located in the town of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, which is about 45 kilometers northwest of Madrid. French text on verso.
The engraving was first published by Cornelius Claesz and printed by Barent Langenes in the 1598 edition of the popular Map-treasury. From a French edition, printed by Albert Hendricks.
